November 11th, 2008 Cheffy
Following their success at the recent Derbyshire Food & Drink Awards 2008/9, where The Chequers Inn was crowned “Pub of the Year”, the landmark inn has gone on to retain its AA Rosette for the fifth consecutive year. The Chequers has also been chosen to appear in the prestigious Michelin guide: “Eating out in Pubs 2009” and will be listed along side 560 of the “best dining pubs in Britain and Ireland”, for the fourth year running. The annual awards ceremony this year took place at Thornbridge Hall, near Ashford-in-the-Water and attracted 180 owners of bars, cafes, bistros, pubs and restaurants from all across Derbyshire.
Receiving their award from celebrity chef Brian Turner, proprietor Jonathan Tindall said: “We’re absolutely delighted that The Chequers has been yet again recognised at the food and drink awards where we were up against a very strong field. To be in the Michelin guide for a fourth year and to retain our AA Rosette for a fifth year has put the icing on the cake.”
Chequers is located in Froggatt, just a few minutes outside Sheffield.
